FAQ

FAQ:

1.) What is fibermesh?
Fibermesh is made of fiberglass hairs that are mixed in the concrete truck. We use one bag per yard, so you have a consistency throughout the load. The advantage is that the fiberglass is mixed in and not laying on the bottom of the concrete like wire mesh usually is.

2.) What is 6-bag mix?
Six bag mix is 6-bags of of cement mixed per yard, as opposed to 5 or 5½ bags per yard. Obviously the more cement mixed per yard, the stronger the concrete is. Some contractors try to save money by using less cement.

3.) What is California finish?
In California finish, the concrete is re-edged and re-grooved after it has been broomed. It gives the edges and grooves a shiny finish.

4.) Will you guarantee the concrete not to crack?
No! The freezing and thawing of our climate moves concrete up and down, causing it to crack. Control joints are used to help prevent cracking, but there is no guarantee that it won't crack. For example, we poured 8 different driveways in the same area 7-10 years ago, and some have hairline cracks but some don't have any cracks.

5.) How do you color the concrete?
Bags of color are added to the concrete truck and mixed around in the drum.

6.) How do you get two different colors?
After colored concrete comes out of the truck, we put a different release color on when we stamp the concrete.

7.) What is acid staining?
Acid staining is like painting but we use colored acid instead of paint.

8.) What is sealing?
Sealing is similar to painting a clear protective coat on a car. It helps protect the concrete from harsh chemicals such as salt.
